Flash Lights

Quiqlite X Rechargeable Pocket Concealable Flashlight with Red/White LED's, Black
I came up the Quiglite rechargeable light and had to try it out. I am always interested new products. The Quiglite has two LEDs, the one I tested had a white, and red LED. You simply  clip the Quiglite to your pocket. To activate the light press the button on the body of the light it will turn on  and then press the small button on the back and the  light it will cycle three a white and red light. The white LED has two levels of brightness which are controlled by the button on the rear of the flashlight. If you hold the button on the body of the light and hold it for a few seconds it will flash white to red. I tried the accessory the Xlfare which fits over the LEDs and makes the light look like a miniature police light. This feature is very useful to signal others. The Quiglite can rotate 360 degrees as well as bend about 270 degrees. This enables you to focus the light where you need. The lumens go from low at 20 to 75 on high. The flashlight comes with a rechargeable battery which is charged by using a mini USB  connecter and plugging it in. The Quiglite has many great features. The lite has a rechargeable battery, a magnetic to enable to attach to medal, long lasting LED, clip to attach, and best of all it is very   cost friendly. .  The Quiglite once you use it you wonder why no one ever thought of it before.

Streamlight 69240 TLR-4 Compact Rail Mounted Tactical Light with Laser Sight
Streamlight (Inc. ) has developed a light weight and reasonably priced tactical light with laser sight. The TLR-4 comes with "keys" which enable it be attached to a variety of different handguns equipped with HK and USP rails
The TLR-4 uses C4 LED a Streamlight designed LED which is extremely bright. The light is 110 lumens which will illuminate your target area. The laser is a red 640-660nm (what is nm?) and is adjustable so you can sight in with your pistol up and down or left and right
There are several ways to use TLR-4: flashlight only, laser only or flashlight and laser combined. Unfortunately, there is no strobe setting on the light. To operate the light there is a selector switch which turns it on. The laser has a small( switch, knob?) which you toggle left and right.
The LED is estimated to last 50,000 hours which is more than a lifetime of use. The body of the light is made of a tough polymer which take a beating.
The operating temperature is from -10F to + 120 degrees which will cover most operating environments. The unit is powered by one CR2 lithium battery. The CR2 battery is readily available since it is used by many cameras. The company claims that the laser/light on together will last 1 ½ hours while the laser alone lasts 11 hours. TLR-4® combines a bright LED and a bright red laser.
The TLR-4® retails for $ 219.00 and can be purchased at fine gun stores and online.

Brite Strike EPLI Executive Precision Lighting Instrument
I have been carrying this great flashlight for months. The flashlight has the dimensions of a ball point pen. The EPLI Illumination uses two AAA batteries which on full power will last you about 1.5 hours according to the manufacturer. My experience proves that to be accurate.
This is a tactical flashlight with a strobe function designed to disorient an attacker. The flashlight puts out 220 Lumens of light and uses a CREE-XPC-Q5 LED. CREE is one of the industry leaders in high performance LEDs.
It has three modes high, low, and strobe. The body of the flashlight is made of 6N01-T4 anodized aluminum. The weight of the flashlight without batteries is 1.4oz.
The only problem I have had is I sometimes "accidently" hit the "on" button of the flashlight when storing it in my trousers pocket. The light goes on and I only notice it when my pants start to get warm. Yes this little flashlight does conduct heat.. One of the biggest myths are LED flashlights are always cool. The reason most LED flashlights bodies are made of aluminum is so they can act as heat sinks so they can remove the heat from the flashlight circuitry.

Bushnell Rubicon A350L 350 Lumens 4D LED Lantern
Bushnell Rubicon A350L 350 Lumens 4D LED Lantern
I have tried out many lanterns and the name says a lot, but it doesn’t do it justice.  First of all it has three light setting for the lantern. The highest lumen setting the light  will  last 30 hours at 350 lumens. To put in perspective a incandescent 60 watt light bulb output in lumens is about 680.This is more than enough light and battery power to get you thru a weekend. The other light output setting is 119 for medium and 2500 for low by that is hours. The lantern has an interesting way of becoming a spot light just turn the rotating ring near the base of the lantern and the lantern becomes a spot light. The lantern has  night light function you  simply press the red button and the  red led turns on. The camper leaves the red light and then when you get back at camp you can find the lantern easily in the dark.It is not a really a light lamp but it great for a camp site. The lantern weighs close to 3 pounds, 44 oz. to be exact. The Rubicon A350L uses 4 “D” size batteries, I would have preferred a built in rechargeable battery. Thou running a flashlight for 30 hours on high it was probably not work the extra cost.It extremely rugged and I like the carrying handle. It is big enough to run a carbineer to attach to rope so you can hang it.I look forward to taking it on my next camping trip.

Executor 230 Lumens Compact & Lightweight LED Handgun Light WL10

The WL-10  use one 123A battery to power the light. The battery will last approx. 80 min. The quick detach is very fast and efficient and unique compared to other brands that I have tried in the past.
This light was designed for pistols in mind.  Thou the flashlight will attach to any Picatinny rail system.
The light is made out metal and has a solid feel to  it.
The Wl-10   light weight at 3.2 oz does not effect handling. The light has a  low profile and does not distract from sighting.
The light has 230 lumen output which is more than adequate for lighting up your target area.
The Wl-10  has only one mode off and on. I wish there was a strobe setting as that comes in handy.
The price for this weapon light is very reasonable.

Nextorch TA3

I was fortunate to try out a the Nextorch TA3 Flashlight. The T stands for tactical and once you look at you will see it a scalloped ring in front of the flashlight, the flashlight is bright at 550 lumens. It has six setting of light. The light setting are  controlled by the tail cap switch.  It is designed for tactical use as it has a strobe light setting. If you are using the strobe light it will disorientate a person

The flashlight is easy to use just press the tail cap. The manufacturer calls it the silent switch, thou you do hear a barely audible click. The flashlight saws it designed to be anti-roll. I had to check it out and they are right the flashlight will not roll. The head of the flashlight has flat surface which stops it from rolling. The flashlight has a included belt clip as well as lanyard to attach it to your clothing or wrist. The Nextorch TA3 has the ability to use two different types of batteries. The flashlight uses two 123a which are expensive to replace. Nextorch includes two 123a batteries. The other option is to use one 18650 battery, which is rechargeable. The 123a batteries   use a plastic insert inside the flashlight body.  To switch to the 18650 simply takes the plastic insert out and puts the battery in. the manufacturer states the 18650 batteries will last 100 minutes and the 123a will last 80 minutes. Just word of warning the head of the flashlight has the words hot on it. The flashlight after fifteen or twenty minutes will be hot. Many people think Led flashlights are supposed to be cool. One of the reasons led flashlights are made out of metal and most cases it is aluminum is to help dissipate the heat. It is handy flashlight and with the extra accessories you can buy you can mount on a weapon,   and buy rechargeable 18650 batteries to name some.

Thermacell portable Torch

I have used Thermacell products for years and they work. They make many different models from a portable unit, lantern, and a torch.
I was fortunate to try out their Patio Torch. Thermacell uses a mosquito repellant pad that releases it odor  when heated by butane. The torch will cover a 15 x 15 foot area with repellant.  To operate it you insert one small butane container into unit and slide in one mosquito repellant pad which has allethrin  into  the top of the lantern. The butane lasts for up 12 hours and each pad lasts 4 hours. The pads are blue when new and as repellant gets used up the pad turns white.  The The lantern needs four AA batteries to operate. The lantern has a built in  led light which simulates a candle. The effect adds a nice ambiance. Two turn the unit on you simply turn the ring at the top of the lantern to start and   click it right to ignite  the butane. To tell if the unit is lit you  look thru the hole to see if the there is glow. The butane will then heat up the pad and then it will release the mosquito repellant.
I have my Tiki torches on my deck and frankly filling them is a messy and if the blows the wrong way it can be annoying. I like sitting on my deck with a umbrella I can’t use a Tiki Torch as the smoke and fumes would fill the top of the umbrella. Before, I forget the Patio Lantern comes with metal poles that assemble and put in the ground and makes a rigid pole and place your lantern on top of it.

It is nice additional to your mosquito fighting tools. It retails for $39.99
